Mechanical Engineering

About The Department

Mechanical engineers play a significant role to build the world around us. From the atomic scale (the nanotechnology) to space stations and everything in between, mechanical engineers have the ability to design and manufacture the devices.

The program in mechanical engineering aims to train engineers who can take advantage of both present and emerging technologies to create competitive and ground-breaking products in a demanding environment in a creative and people-oriented manner considering occupational safety, environmental problems, and ethical and social principles. Furthermore, our education system will lead engineering candidates to develop analytical thinking, modelling, analysing, and solving skills, to be able to take part in interdisciplinary teams, to follow new technologies and requirements.

Course Content and Academic Facilities
The foundational undergraduate curriculum in our department's first year is designed to lay the groundwork for the mathematics and natural sciences, which are the foundation of engineering. In the following years, engineering mechanics, computer-aided modelling, energy systems, manufacturing, machine theory and dynamics, internal combustion engines and gas turbines will be taught by the help of modern educational equipment and laboratory facilities. In addition to all these courses, elective courses of special areas of Mechanical Engineering or of in different disciplines, that will support a mechanical engineering application, will be provided. Furthermore, a great number of academic-industry collaborations that our university has already develop, could also help our students to develop practical and networking skills.

Our students' research skills and application performance will be supported by the project courses and hands-on trainings with the modern educational equipment and laboratory facilities placed in our faculty.

Our students have the opportunity to do a double major and a minor if they meet the necessary conditions.

Career Oppurtunities
Graduates of the department with the title of "Mechanical Engineer" are in demand in the industry since there is a shortage of qualified candidates, especially in the areas of the vehicle (automotive, aircraft, ship, railway systems), defence, chemistry, material, installation, white goods, energy systems, health technologies, maintenance, repair, and automation. Our education system meets not only the sectoral requirements, but also academic requirements.
