About the Department
Software Engineering is a branch of engineering that is intertwined with disciplines such as computer science, industry and mathematics and deals with the fundamentals of software, including its production and operation, where design is at the highest level, which is vital in the modern business world.
The aim of ISTUN Software Engineering Department is to train engineers who are well educated in the fields of computer systems and computer software, who can compete in the national and international sector, who are equipped with universal knowledge and skills, who are prone to teamwork, who adopt lifelong learning as a principle, who can produce large-scale designs, who have advanced analysis and solution skills, who have communication and management skills, who take into account ethical and social values, and who can respond to the current and future needs of the sector in the best way.
Academic Opportunities
In the first two years of our department, mainly basic engineering and basic computer courses will be given. From the first years of the learning process, the laboratory practice of each course will be integrated in line with the needs of the sector, and a curriculum that is out of the box will be followed. By eliminating the learning approach that is passed only with grades; it will be ensured that our students will be trained as individuals who will direct the technology trends in the sector with their rising motivation, where they do not have to worry about finding a job. Our students will graduate much more ready for the sector with the practical training they receive thanks to our academic-industry collaborations, as well as our education program created by taking into account the needs of the sector and industry.

Graduates of the department with the title of "Software Engineer" have the opportunity to work in many fields such as defense industry, cyber security, various software and IT companies, telecommunications, development of medical diagnosis and treatment applications, gaming industry, aviation and space sector, media sector, banking, e-commerce, IT centers and R&D centers of private and state institutions. Graduates of the department can also work as academicians in universities while continuing their master's and doctoral studies.
