Chemical Engineering: It aims to transform natural and synthetic chemicals into useful and marketable products as a result of chemical and physical changes by reacting with various auxiliary substances or by preparing mixtures. For this purpose, chemical engineering is a basic engineering field that is open to multidisciplinary work for the development and implementation of production processes by performing R&D activities.
The aim of ISTUN Chemical Engineering Department is; with our academic staff, each of whom is respected in their field, has industry experience, has received international science awards, and has made a name for itself with their original works; to train engineers who have analytical thinking ability, can compete in national and international sectors, are equipped with universal knowledge and skills, are prone to teamwork, adopt lifelong learning as a principle, produce technology and science, and consider occupational safety, environment, ethics and social principles.
Academic Facilities
Our curriculum, today's chemical engineers can engage in product engineering activities such as developing new products with high added value, managing after-sales customer relations and quality control, in addition to the activities of designing new processes and operating them under the most appropriate conditions; it is balanced in four main groups as basic sciences, engineering sciences, design and elective courses. In the first two years, there are mainly basic science courses in the fields of chemistry, physics, and mathematics, in the third-year engineering science courses and in the last year design courses. In the courses, practical, laboratory and computer-based chemical engineering education will be given. Elective courses: Group elective courses are divided into three groups as technical elective courses and social elective courses.
Group elective courses have been chosen to convey the basic knowledge of the selected sectors to the students, especially considering employment and today's priority areas. Polymer Engineering group courses will contribute to employment and R&D studies in fields such as polymer, plastic, polymer processing and paint.
Due to the extensive production, quality control and R&D activities of our founding foundation in the pharmaceutical industry, the Pharmaceutical Engineering elective group and the Biochemical Engineering elective group have been formed considering the increasing importance of production based on renewable resources in recent years. All courses will be supported by modern educational equipment and laboratory facilities. To improve our students' research and application skills with the lessons they take, at the end of their second and third year, they will be given the opportunity to do R&D internships and then production internships. In this sense, thanks to the organic bond of our founding foundation with the pharmaceutical industry, it will be at the forefront of the engineering fields that will be most supported in R&D studies.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the department, with the title of "Chemical Engineer"; They can work in many fields such as the chemical industry, paint industry, cosmetics industry, energy industry, pharmaceutical industry, plastic industry, automotive industry, metal industry, textile, agriculture, and food. In addition, graduates of the department can continue their graduate and doctoral education and advance in their academic careers.
