Molecular Biology and Genetics is an interdisciplinary science that enables the decoding of genetic codes that program the formation of living things and the use of the decoded codes in many fields such as medicine, biotechnology, medicine, food and agriculture. The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, which has priority in research support programs both in the world and in our country, is one of the departments with a very bright future and high employment potential.
The aim of ISTUN Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is to train molecular biologists who can produce solutions, are prone to teamwork, have advanced analytical skills, question, research, produce ideas, discover, environmentalist, value ethical and social principles in order to keep up with the ever-changing and advancing science and technology.
Academic Facilities
In our department, in the first two years, mainly basic sciences courses, and in the next two years, theoretical and practical courses such as molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, cell biology, tissue engineering, biotechnology, accompanied by projects, will be taught to provide our students with professional competence. Courses will be supported by modern educational equipment and laboratory facilities. In order to contribute to our students to gain first-hand research experience, the courses they take will be developed with project courses.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the department with the title of "Molecular Biologist" have the opportunity to work in many fields such as R&D centers, pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, food and agriculture industry, diagnosis and treatment centers of genetic diseases, in vitro fertilization centers, stem cell and gene therapy centers, forensic medicine institutions. Graduates of the department can also work as academicians in universities while continuing their master's and doctoral studies.
